The Work Permit Module for Seveso companies

Gemba developed the Work Permit Module specifically for Seveso companies. This allows these companies to create, request, and store their work permits within IBM Maximo, making it easier for them to meet the requirements of the Dutch government.

From a paper form to a digital process

Seveso companies work with large quantities of hazardous substances and are therefore under special supervision by the Dutch government. This means that Seveso companies are obliged to first draw up a work permit and have it approved by management before carrying out maintenance or resolving malfunctions.
Typically, such work permits are drawn up using a paper form, but now that Gemba has developed the Work Permit Module, this can now be handled within IBM Maximo.

The Work Permit Module as part of IBM Maximo

IBM Maximo covers all maintenance within a company; orders are automatically created for both preventive and corrective work. Because Gemba’s Work Permit Module is linked to IBM Maximo’s standard work order function, permits are also created along with the work orders.

In addition, the module is part of IBM Maximo’s application for service requests and the tracking function for work orders, functioning as an extra layer. This makes it easy to find work permits by searching the asset’s work history for the associated work order.

The creation and application of work permits

All the necessary fields are available when drawing up the work permit. For example, it can be filled in whether PPE is required, whether the work involves chemical substances, and whether a certain area needs to be cordoned off. The person who initiates the work order, and thus also the permit, can fill in the fields for the work permit. Subsequently, a notification appears at function level that the permit has been created. Other persons can then further complete or supplement the work permit.

Once the work permit has been fully completed, it is passed on to management by IBM Maximo. After approval, the work order can be carried out. Naturally, the work permit can also be printed out in accordance with Deltalinqs’ recommendation, because during an inspection by the government, the permit for the work in progress must always be shown immediately. In addition to more overview, the Work Permit Module also offers more convenience.
