IBM Maximo Application Suite: One license for everything

Imagine never having to think about which Maximo add-ons or Industry Solutions you do or do not need licenses for. Or how many users you need them for. Or whether you are unknowingly using more than you are paying for. The new IBM Maximo Application Suite offers that carefree flexibility.

No more individual licenses

With IBM Maximo Application Suite, also known as IBM MAS, IBM is transitioning to a different licensing system. You no longer need to purchase separate licenses for the basic modules or additional solutions of IBM Maximo, but with one license, you can use the full functionality of the software. Whether you do so on-premises, in the public cloud, or in the private cloud, or opt for a combination of the three with a hybrid cloud platform.

Unlimited possibilities

In this way, you gain access to many new asset management capabilities with IBM Maximo Application Suite. In addition to the pure management of your assets, consider, for example, monitoring, which allows you to remotely monitor the condition of your assets. Or predicting potential problems—when should you perform maintenance on your assets to prevent failure? You can even use solutions for specific business sectors without needing separate licenses for them.

IBM Maximo Application Suite’s convenient point system

The licensing system of IBM Maximo Application Suite is based on points. The point principle is not entirely new. At the end of 2018, IBM introduced a licensing system with IBM Maximo Tokens. You could use this from IBM Maximo 7.6.1. The points of IBM Maximo Application Suite effectively work like these tokens.

Points as you go

The system means that you purchase a license for IBM Maximo Application Suite for a certain amount of points. When a user logs into the software, a number of points are taken from the pool of available points. When logging out, the points go back into the pool. The number of points depends on the role of the user and the associated rights. For example, an administrator requires more points than a basic user. Incidentally, self-service remains free, just as you are used to. Your employees can therefore submit service requests via the web portal of IBM Maximo Application Suite without this costing any points.

Expand without investing

With the new licensing system, you are very flexible in the use of IBM Maximo Application Suite. Because you have all the functionality at your disposal, you can quickly try out new possibilities without major investments. And if you use monitoring, for example, you are not limited in the number of assets that you monitor remotely. This was the case with the old licensing system. The more assets, the more you paid. In short, with IBM Maximo Application Suite, you can expand as needed, without incurring extra costs.

Easily scale up points

Another major advantage is that you never overuse IBM Maximo Application Suite. Because you can set the asset management software so that users no longer have access when the points in the pool are used up. This prevents problems with audits, as in the past. If it turns out in practice that you structurally have insufficient points in the pool, you can easily scale up and expand the number of points.

Switch to IBM Maximo Application Suite

Are you switching from IBM Maximo to the new IBM Maximo Application Suite? Then we will convert your existing licenses to points. In the new licensing system, you have the choice of two contract forms. The first option is that you purchase the points for a certain period. You then pay for the duration of the contract. After expiry, you can renew the contract. The second option is that you buy the points. With such a ‘perpetual license’, the points are and remain yours and you can always continue to use IBM Maximo Application Suite, with annually recurring maintenance costs.
