Maximo Asset Health Insights: Map the condition of your assets

Assets often age and deteriorate without us really noticing. Preventive maintenance allows you to check the operation of assets, but it does not provide a truly clear overview of the condition of all assets. Maximo Asset Health Insights (also known as MAHI) ensures that you always know exactly what the condition of your assets is.

Status based on condition scores

Maximo Asset Health Insights complements IBM Maximo and offers the ability to interpret the status of individual assets based on condition scores. The condition of assets is determined based on so-called drivers. Below are some examples that could be defined as drivers:

  • age
  • expected lifespan
  • outstanding work orders
  • historical failure behavior

But also, for example, the weather can be a driver. If the asset is a battery in the open air, the weather conditions will affect the condition of the battery. If it is cold, the battery will be empty sooner than in the summer heat.

From IBM Maximo to Maximo Asset Health Insights

The data of assets are loaded from IBM Maximo or another external source into Maximo Asset Health Insights, then the condition scores are calculated. These condition scores are expressed as percentages. At a score of 100%, the state of the asset is maximum, at a score of 20%, maintenance or replacement is required.

For example, if it concerns the lighting in a tunnel, the light intensity of all lamps can be measured. Per lamp, it can then be determined to what extent the state of the lamp contributes to the condition status of the entire tunnel. If a lamp fails in the middle of the tunnel, this is process-critical. A lamp that serves as support for, for example, a control cabinet counts less heavily in the condition status of the tunnel.

A connection between Maximo and IoT data

Maximo Asset Health Insights is particularly strong in establishing a connection between traditional IBM Maximo and IoT data. It retrieves data such as light intensity or temperature and combines it with the maintenance data from IBM Maximo. Subsequently, the current condition of the assets is determined based on historical and real-time sensor data, environmental data, work order data and results from inspections.

A dashboard provides an overview that allows you to compare the current condition of the assets with the defined reference condition at a glance. In this way, the reliability engineer and maintenance supervisor quickly gain insight into which assets need extra attention. This may involve creating or adjusting preventive maintenance schedules or planning an extra inspection, overhaul or replacement of assets.

In this way, Maximo Asset Health Insights makes a major contribution to increasing the availability and reliability and reducing the costs of your assets.
