Never search again for asset documentation

How do you quickly find documents about an asset? It’s usually not that simple, with files stored in different network locations. Where exactly are they? And what information do you actually have about the asset in question? With the new Viewport connector for IBM Maximo, you never have to search for long; you see it directly on your screen.

CAD drawings, PDFs with product specifications, technical diagrams, Office files, … the variety of documents about the assets that you manage via IBM Maximo is vast. Moreover, the files are not only in your document management system but can be located anywhere in your network, from a random directory on the G drive to a SharePoint folder. Finding the right document can, therefore, be quite a search, which comes at the expense of your employees’ productivity.

Integration between IBM Maximo and Viewport

Requesting the necessary documents for your asset management no longer needs to be a time-consuming activity. Gemba has developed an interface between IBM Maximo and Viewport, a software solution that makes documents searchable and insightful in a smart way. All documents about your assets, wherever they are in your network, are automatically indexed based on keywords. With a smart search engine, you can quickly retrieve the files in which a particular keyword appears. Viewport also highlights these keywords within a found file.

Quickly gain insight into documents about assets

With the Viewport connector for IBM Maximo from Gemba, you can request a direct overview of all documents that belong to an asset, a part of an asset, or the location of an asset, directly from your asset management solution. From this overview, you can click directly to a document, after which it is displayed in IBM Maximo itself. Your employees, therefore, do not need an extra reader or special equipment. They can simply view the documents on their tablet or any other device with IBM Maximo, in the factory or somewhere on location.

Search from IBM Maximo and Viewport

The Gemba link between IBM Maximo and Viewport also works the other way around. This means that it is also possible to list all the documents you are looking for from Viewport. Suppose you want to know when the last maintenance on a particular valve took place or when the last inspection was. You then launch a search in Viewport and can then click directly to IBM Maximo from the search results on your screen.

IBM Maximo and Viewport integration now available

Gemba’s solution for the integration of IBM Maximo and Viewport was developed last fall and is now available. Implementation projects are currently underway at various companies.
