Why Gemba training works better? That’s why!

Training pays off: good training opportunities help retain employees, while increasing their job satisfaction and productivity. For that reason alone, it is wise to invest sufficiently in training. But the benefit goes further, we see at Gemba. What’s the reason for that?

Greater engagement through training

Successful organizations often offer their employees the training and education they need. The reverse is also true: the least successful companies usually do not perform well in the area of training either. Training increases employee productivity, that is well known. But perhaps even more importantly, training contributes to employee retention and increases their engagement. A strong argument in these times of structural staff shortages.

Training IBM Maximo Application Suite and IBM Cognos

At Gemba, we also applaud training: we offer our customers all kinds of opportunities to increase their knowledge and skills regarding IBM Maximo, IBM Maximo IT, IBM Maximo MREF and IBM Cognos applications. With over 25 years of experience in the implementation of IBM Maximo Application Suite and IBM Cognos, we have built up a wealth of knowledge. We are happy to share this knowledge with our customers, for various reasons. Because in addition to employees being more loyal and working more easily and quickly through good training, we see another major advantage.

Customer becomes a discussion partner at a high level

The benefit of training is at a higher level than purely improving use or management. What we notice in practice is that a customer who has more knowledge of his IBM Maximo or IBM Cognos applications in-house also better understands what his organization and users need. That makes him a discussion partner with whom we can discuss at a higher level what is needed to optimally align these applications with the needs. In addition to training resulting in better-trained people, it also delivers software that works better.

Gemba training: standard or customized

Our training offer for IBM Maximo and IBM Cognos is very broad. Fully web-based, online or in the classroom, standard or customized, in-house or off-site, or a combination thereof: anything is possible. We focus on different roles. For example, for managers we offer training courses on work agreements or the use of KPIs. And with functional managers, we go into depth about the implementation of an application. In addition, there are of course specific user groups. Take an application of IBM Maximo in the oil and gas industry. One user group has a marine background, the other is knowledgeable in the mechanical or electrical field. And a reliability engineer has a different training need than, for example, a maintenance engineer.

From button training to training for key users or internal consultants

The level within the user groups can also vary. For example, a key user requires different training than a ‘regular’ end user or an internal consultant who is being trained to advise their own organization on a particular application. From button training to training on topics such as regulations, procedures or work agreements, with customization we completely adapt the training to the wishes of our customers and their target groups.

Training makes the why clear

At Gemba, we know our customers, their implementations and procedures inside and out. As a result, we are in a unique position to explain why their IBM Maximo or IBM Cognos application does what it does and why users have to do things in a certain way. Often people within an organization work on their own island. By offering them a broader framework in the training, they see the entire process and understand their role in it.

Continuous training by Gemba

As Gemba, we are also in favor of continuing to train employees, both new and existing people. And not only about new developments or implementations. Usually, organizations stop training about two years after the initial implementation, with the result that at some point no one knows why things are the way they are. Through continuous training, organizations maximize the use of their employees and their implementations.
