IBM Maximo Application Suite: more than just asset management

IBM Maximo Application SuiteHave you ever imagined that the functionality, platform and costs of your asset management could be perfectly scalable and flexible? That’s exactly what the IBM Maximo Application Suite offers. Moreover, this solution, also known as IBM Maximo 8, goes way beyond traditional asset management. It’s a growth path to the future in every aspect!

Five IBM Maximo applications in one

Recently, we told you about IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.2, a version with a wealth of new features. However, IBM is continuously improving IBM Maximo, so that you can take the steps required in the future. The result: the IBM Maximo Application Suite. This latest version, the IBM Maximo 8.2, offers you no fewer than five different asset management applications that you can deploy as needed, all in a single solution. You can even use them as plug-ins with asset management software other than IBM Maximo.

End of data silos

All five applications in the IBM Maximo Application Suite work together seamlessly on a single platform. They share their data, relieving you of any worries about data silos. The applications offer you all the functionalities you want, at the exact moment when you actually need them. This means you’re prepared for the future, when you’re ready for risk-based asset management based on predictive analyses for example.

Hybrid cloud platform

The same flexibility is found in the IBM Maximo Application Suite technical platform, as this solution is built for a hybrid cloud architecture. It means you can run the applications anywhere: in-house (on-premise), in a private or public cloud, or on a combination of all three, without being tied to a cloud provider.

Pay IBM Maximo according to use

Finally, the IBM Maximo Application Suite licensing model is also simple and scalable, because you pay according to use. You can read more about the platform and the licensing model in the following blogs. In this blog, we take a closer look at the functionalities.

Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)

The first application in the IBM Maximo Application Suite is IBM Maximo Manage. This EAM software can do everything from scheduling tasks and personnel to recording information about assets and inventory management, including monitoring supplier performance. The application can also help you assign the right people to a task, make sure you meet safety and environmental standards, and oblige you to respect internal and external service contracts. Your staff can also use IBM Maximo Manage to process data remotely in the field. Finally, this application makes it possible to analyse your data in all kinds of ways.

Monitor asset performance

With IBM Maximo Monitor, you can remotely keep an eye on whether your assets are functioning properly, with the help of AI. For example, you can record both the number of operating hours of the turbines on your drilling platform, and the vibrations. The software searches for inconsistencies in the way turbines behave, and makes the information easy to understand for you with graphs. It all means you can intervene in good time if something threatens to go wrong.

Monitor the condition of assets in real time

IBM Maximo Health monitors the condition of your assets. On the one hand, it collects real-time data about the assets via Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) sensors, and on the other it combines this data with information from other sources and makes analyses. This might be historical asset data; maintenance history or weather information, for example. The analyses could then be used to inform a network administrator about matters such as the best moment to service or replace critical components in a distribution station.

<Keep an eye on assets at all times

IBM Maximo Visual Inspection puts you in a position to literally keep an eye on assets via cameras or simple on-premise iOS devices. The application collects images of your assets continuously and in real time, and uses AI to help analyse them. If an asset looks like it will cause problems within a certain period, you will be notified immediately, so that you can take action in good time.

Asset management based on risks

IBM Maximo Predict is the fifth application currently available in the IBM Maximo Application Suite. This advanced software enables you to make advanced predictive analyses with AI. You foresee when an asset might fail, and what maintenance action you should take and at what time to avoid this risk. This maximises the performance of your assets, while minimising your maintenance expenditure at the same time.
