Let’s first clear up a misunderstanding. Of course, your IBM Maximo environment will remain up and running on October 1, 2025, even if you have not yet switched to IBM MAS. With the help of IBM Maximo 7.6, you can manage and maintain your assets just as you were used to before that time. The termination of regular support by IBM does not change anything about that.

IBM Maximo consists of two layers: the web server and the application itself. Support for the web server will continue as normal after September 30, 2025, including security patches. For the application, additional forms of support are possible after this date. The first option is sustained support, the second is extended support.

Sustained support means that we can support your IBM Maximo environment with all the tools that IBM developed for IBM Maximo 7.6. If you encounter an issue and a suitable tool is available, we can offer you a solution with it. Are you already working with AppPoints? In that case, sustained support will cost you nothing extra up to and including April 2027. After that, you pay 10 percent on top of your current annual maintenance and support costs. This makes sustained support possible up to and including September 2030.

The second option is extended support for IBM Maximo 7.6. This form of support goes a step further and also includes performing security patches at the application level. IBM does set conditions for extended support. There are also costs involved: a surcharge of 20 percent on top of your existing annual maintenance and support costs. You can use extended support up to and including September 30, 2026.

The future for the maintenance and management of your assets? That is and remains IBM MAS. In this case, postponement does not mean cancellation: sustained or extended support for IBM Maximo 7.6 only gives you a little more time.
