Toolset for transitioning your IBM Maximo data platform: large volumes are no problem
Are you using an Oracle database in combination with IBM Maximo 7.6? When switching to IBM Maximo Application Suite (IBM MAS), MS SQL Server or IBM DB2 may be a better option. With our specially developed toolset, we manage the transition of your data platform, no matter how many gigabytes of data are involved.
Before switching to IBM MAS, we first map your entire IBM Maximo environment, including your underlying database platform and its management. Do you have an Oracle database? Then switching to Microsoft SQL Server is certainly worth investigating. This is often more attractive in terms of both license costs and management.
Powerful combination
There is a good chance that your organization already uses MS SQL Server for other applications. And if you also have the Power BI reporting tool, you have a powerful combination. This makes MS SQL Server an extra good choice as a data platform for your IBM MAS environment. Do you prefer to keep your asset management data within your company’s walls? Then you can opt for IBM DB2. We can also manage this database, which is a standard part of IBM systems, well for you in combination with IBM MAS.
Maximum automated migration process
Transferring your IBM Maximo data in Oracle to MS SQL Server or IBM DB2 is not complicated in itself. The only thing is that it usually involves huge data volumes. Many IBM Maximo databases have taken on considerable proportions over the years. For example, we are currently working for a customer to migrate a database with hundreds of tables, each containing millions of items, together accounting for approximately 10 gigabytes of data. We use a data migration toolset that we developed ourselves and that allows the migration process to proceed almost completely automatically.
Fast processing of large data volumes
Our data migration toolset is very scalable and therefore flexible to use: it is possible to request and convert small and very large amounts of data. The enormous volumes involved in an IBM Maximo data migration are also no problem. The toolset automatically converts Oracle queries to SQL or DB2 queries. If something goes wrong during the transfer, the data comes back with an error message and is intercepted by filters. These filters clean the data before it is transferred again. The ability to perform an operation simultaneously on different data batches speeds up the migration process.
