Waterschap Hollandse Delta

Waterschap Hollandse Delta (WSHD) takes care of clean and sufficient water on the  Zuid-Hollandse Eilanden and secure dikes and roads. This asks for optimal management of many object types and an optimal balance between performance and costs. The waterschap is able to do this with the use of IBM Maximo linked to their Geographic Information System, a mobile app and business intelligence tools. It enables WSHD to determine risks, work in a planned and proactive way, and deploy resources in a costs efficient and effective way – and also in line with the strategic business goals.

Waterschap Hollandse Delta is in a transition to introduce the new working. Next to that they had the requirement to support the technician in working more efficiently. This led to a search for a mobile solution.


Register and report all work being executed by the technician while on the road. Make sure the technician has all the necessary information needed to carry out his job real-time available.

The technicians see on their mobile phone which objects to inspect. They can take pictures of the situation, in the case of damage for example. An incident with geo location is created in IBM Maximo, which enables the workpreparation department to determine the problem and immediately create a workorder for repairs to an internal group, external contractor or technician.


The waterschap needed to choose a system and an implementation partner. A shortlist of solutions was put together. Two of which were analysed further by means of a Proof of Concept. This resulted in the selection of IBM Maximo Anywhere as the preferred solution and Gemba Service as the preferred implementation partner. Gemba already knew the organization and made the best proposal on price and quality. A very ambitious schedule of 3 months was setup for the implementation. 3 Months to install and configure the system, train the users and Go Live with almost 100 users.

The employees of Waterschap Hollandse Delta no have a digital work environment providing all information they need to carry out their work. They no longer have to search for information, it’s all available at their fingertips. In 3 months Gemba developed an application which fulfills the requirements of the organization for fast and efficient working in the corrective and preventive maintenance processes.
